Calderbank Football Club was founded in july 2004 By a group of handsome young local men. The village in which the team are based is a small place with a tight nit community of around 1000 people who get behind the team every week. In its first season the club experienced the highs and lows of football. After a great start to the campaign with 3 wins from 4, the team hit a dip in form and struggled through the winter months, picking up few points along the way. By the end of the season they were stuck in the lower half of the table with little success. However, the club then recorded a famous 2-1 win victory over Shawhead which eventually cost Shawhead their crown.
The second season saw The Bats lifting silverware for the first time in the clubs history. After a great string of results in the league, the team found themselves third in the table and in two cup finals. The first was played on a cool summers night in Cumbernauld witnessed by two bus loads of fans who turned out from the village to lend their support. After 90 hard fought minutes the Bats ran out 3-2 winners and wrote themselves into the Calderbank history books. The second final did not go as well though. Before a ball was kicked the team found themselves without their inspirational keeper who had pulled off a string of magnificent saves throughout the campaign. This was a bitter blow. Despite a brave comeback they were beaten 2-1. If things continue the way they are, Calderbank can look forward to many more years of success, both at home and in Europe.
